ABOUT THE BRAND

Café con Leche is a coffee shop / brand that strives to create a nostalgic and comforting space for all. The energy and branding within Café con Leche helps bring back childhood memories and heal your inner child through a warm (or iced) cafecito. Whether you need to get some work done. or just hang out with some friends, this space is meant to be welcoming for anyone.

I created this passion project in memory of my grandma who passed in Feb. of 2022. Growing up, one of my warmest memories I carry with me is going to her house on my days off of school, and drinking a warm cup of coffee and bread with her. (Us Hispanics tend to drink coffee at a young age haha!). The warm feeling I get now when I drink coffee with milk now reminds me of those memories and I hope to bring the same feelings to others through this brand and its message. I miss you buelita, this one's for you.

RESEARCH

A lot of coffee shops are created to be work spaces and shops to stop by, grab a beverage, and leave. There's an opportunity for coffee shops to be a place to not feel obligated to stay quiet and just do work, but to meet up with others and chat however long needed. Café con Leche fills in the gap for a space to feel like home away from home to be productive or just meet up with some chisme.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE LOGO

One of the main personality trait this brand has is playful. With this, I went with a sans serif type that didn't feel so serious. I created a logomark that replicated a coffee splash. This helped bring more youthfulness to the identity.

THE TYPE!

The typesuite all together is a mix of youthful but modern. The monotype creates a nice contrast against both the heading and subheading. For the heading, I went with Roc Grotesk Bold, for the subheading, I went with Roc Grotesk Condensed, and for the body, I went with Botanika Mono Regular. Keeping both the heading and subheading the same font with different weights helps everything flow together but still have a nice balance against the body text.
